Blight Bringers Ep 37

This week on the show Ryan and myself start by bringing Jonathon on to help us go through Cryx’ plans into Legion. Cutter joins us a bit into the episode and talks about his recent tournament. Bit of audio issues this episode, we apologize for the quality.

Cutter’s Vayl2 Assassination List:

[Vayl 2] Vayl, Consul of Everblight [+28]
  • Carnivean [18]
  • Carnivean [18]
  • Seraph [14]
    Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1]
Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellion [0(6)]
Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellion [0(6)]
    Bog Trog Mist Speaker [4]
    Blackfrost Shard [9]
    Ice Witches [7]
    Throne of Everblight [16]
    Throne of Everblight [16]

Dropping Bayal & co. from my OoA here, with the reasoning that given the prevalence of Makeda3, Immortals, Judicators, and Tharn, hex hunters have lost a lot of value, and Vayl2 has to work harder to keep them safe/deliver them (via Occultation, and there are many valuable targets for that spell). Swapping in BFS and a second S&H gives the list some flexibility of how to utilize a throwaway S&H, and BFS can sometimes solve the damage issues inherent in her kit – particularly into medium-base units with thrones. I’m not convinced that BFS can pull their 9 points of weight, but I’m testing it on the table because I honestly haven’t fielded then in ages – and as a last resort they’re a unit of a few battlewizard weaponmasters with pathfinder.

Alternatives to BFS in OoA are not forthcoming because of the heavily-restricted infantry options, but you could go back to Bayal, stick a beast in there and go for a free card, or maybe look at minions options – there are 10 points to tinker with if dropping the point-filler shepherd. One possibility is taking both the spawning vessel and croc-pot to fuel a lesser factory, giving Vayl2 a little more board presence, Oraculi angles, and potentially hitting power via shredder missiles, but not sure about that tradeoff.
